Standing on the ledge of his weyr, P'lan looked out over the weyr bowl, his hand resting gently against the forearm of his Onyx. The bowl was busy at midday with other riders and the drudges of the Weyr. Before him was the grand prize, the goal of his life, a prosperous, powerful, and strong Weyr. Hadi was becoming so large, the Weyrleaders were already searching out new locations.
Those dragons are coming back. Svarth broke in to his rider's thoughts.
"I am aware of that," P'lan said, not looking away from what should be his Weyr. "I don't see why the Weyrleaders are searching now. Without another Violet to sustain a second Weyr, there is no way any would be established outside of Hadi."
Perhaps you should bring your concerns to Panithath's Lilia.
"I've tried to get Lilia's ear before, it has rarely worked." P'lan turned his attention towards the Weyrleader's weyr in the distance. There was the real prize, the Violet Panithath and Weyrwoman Lilia. If Svarth could catch that Violet prize, he could have his Weyr what was his, meant to be his.
We're just voicing our concerns for the Weyr, like good riders should. A short visit, just to check on things, gain some more information. Svarth lowered his head, his massive green eye on his rider. We've never avoided a chance to speak with the pair before. It has never hurt in the past.
"You're right, you great black lump," P'lan smiled at his dragon and scratched at his eyeridge before walking back to Svarth's forearm. He hoisted himself up to Svarth's neck. He had a lot of practice riding without straps and felt no fear as his dragon leapt from the weyr ledge and soared over to the Weyrwoman's ledge.
"Weyrwoman?" P'lan called as he jumped down from Svarth. "I'm sorry to disturb you, but I have some... concerns."
He took a step towards the interior of the quarters. "Lilia? Are you here?"

Good nap, I hope, my darling? Panitath crooned as Lilia lay on her bed within their private weyr. Her Rider had felt tired after dealing with some unruly drudges and the Violet had demanded she rest before she pushed herself to far. It was enough, Lilia sent, slowly rising from the cool sheets, the thin sheet fluttering to her lap, revealing that Lilia was only dressed in a simple white shift. The shift was something her Weyrleader T'lyn had had made for her, about the only thing that she could stand from the Onyxrider. A voice echoed through her weyr, someone calling for her, and by the way Lilia watched Panitath curl up and purr, the Weyrwoman knew that it was a male. Who is it?Onyx Svarth and His, Panitath answered, already uncurling from her couch. Greetings Onyx Svarth. Please send Yours further in. Mine was resting, but is now awake, she sent to the Onyx, barely making out his shadow from the main room.[/blockquote]

Panitath's will see you, Svarth told P'lan before rumbling a greeting to the Violet, his head slightly bowed. Greetings to you, Panitath. I hope today finds you and yours well.
Though both rider and dragon were imfamous for their tempers, they both had considerable charm and could be pleasant when they put their minds to it. It was another tool to gain what they want.
P'lan entered quickly, looking around to see if his rival was present. He let out a small dericive snort when he saw the Weyrleader wasn't.
"I'm sorry to bother you, Weyrwoman," he said when he spotted her and her lack of proper clothing. "I just wanted to discuss a few concerns and perhaps offer some advice, if I may."

Noticing that it was indeed P'lan, Lilia grinned, slowly crawling off her bed, shift trailing around her, as she moved and twisted her body around. "It's good that you caught me at such a moment," the Weyrwoman started, having to push back Panitath's thoughts about how she should at least be faithful to T'lyr until she Rose. "At the moment Weyrleader T'lyr is out, but anything that concerns can be brought up with me, as you always welcome too," the Violetrider stated, reaching into her clothes chest for her cover. Of course, she put it on, but wasn't very quick about it.
Moving over to the side room, she waved P'lan to follow her. "Mug of klah?" she asked, moving over to the wall to the shut that was linked to the kitchens. [/blockquote]

If the show was for his benefit, P'lan just smiled politely. Lilia was a beautiful woman and certainly attractive but right now taking advantage of the Weyrwoman wouldn't gain him the Weyr. The Weyr was his true prize, after all.
"That would be nice, Weyrwoman," he said as he followed her to the side room. He found a chair for himself and sat down to wait for the klah and discuss business.
"If I can be blunt, believe the reason the dragons are you and Panitath. Dragons aren't going to try and start a new home without a Queen to rule them." The Onyx rider crossed his legs and leaned back. "Until there's another Queen, I believe the dragons will always come back. Panitath needs to lay a Queen and once that Queen is old enough, we can send her with a wing or two of dragons to settle elsewhere."

Calling down the vent to the kitchens for two mugs of klah, Lilia didn't have to wait long before the mugs arrived and she was carrying the over to where P'lan was seated. She sighed as he brought up the subject that she knew would be on mosts mind. "I know this and understand you worry," she stated, taking a seat. "Panitath is extremely close to her time to Rise once more. I have already sent Weyrleader T'lyn out into the mountians to find what has been sending my Riders back to me before they have completeled their missions of finding a suitable place for a new and bigger Weyr. By the time T'lyn finds out what has happened in the mountians, Panitath will already have Risen, a new Weyrleader already chosen and it will only be a short time before my Violet clutches."
Mine has thought long and hard on what Yours has brought before her, sweet Svarth, Panitath sent to the Onyx alone. Even planning and hoping I would Rise while her Weyrleader is away, the Violet let slip, knowing her Rider would be angry and upset with her for allowing this Onyx pair to be let in on her little secret. Yet, she really didn't care. Svarth and His would be in the sky if she started to Rise soon, and she had a feeling the Onyx would do everything in his power to catch her. "Yes, without a Queen, the dragons sent to the new Weyr out in the mountians will only keep returning to Panitath," Lilia agreed, blowing lightly across the brim of her mug, before taking a sip of hot klah. "But hopefully, by the time the new Weyr is built, everything made ready for dragons and humans, Panitath's impending clutch will have hatched, and Faranath-willing, there be a Queen within the clutch, she will be of age by the time the new Weyr is finished. More than ready to take over the new Weyr, with like you said, several wings under her command."[/blockquote]

P'lan took the mug and then set it aside. He wasn't that much in need of the hot drink. Business, especially Weyr business, came first. He wanted his Weyr in top working order when he took over.
"Lilia, what I'm saying is that T'lyn won't find anything out in the mountains besides, hopefully, a new Weyr for the next Queen," he said, leaning closer to the Weyrwoman. "I believe the dragons know that Panitath is close to Rising and don't want to leave. After she Rises, they'll be more comfortable leaving."
Has the Weyrleader and His dragon done something to upset yours? Svarth asked, then quickly sent the information that Panitath's had sent away the Weyrleader on purpose to his rider. There wasn't a flicker on P'lan's face when he received the news but inwardly he was smiling.
He reached out and put a hand on Lilia's knee, "You and Panitath have brought this Weyr to where it is today, to where we have these worries, it's actually a good thing." He turned on a charming smile, one that was friendly, open but completely at odds with the cold interior of the man. "You should be proud."

Turning her face away from P'lan, Lilia could only hope that he was right. That T'lyn wouldn't find anything out in the mountains and that the dragons were simply returning because Panitath was so close to Rising. Why won't you Rise, you silly, over-sized lizard! Lilia cursed her dragon, even as Panitath simply purred and crooned to her Rider. I will Rise when I am good and ready . . . And no one will force me ahead of time, the Violet purred, causing Lilia to huff. "T'lyn is already out within the mountains. His Onyx has yet to report back, and all other dragons are safely within the Weyr," Lilia stated, turning to look back at P'lan. "No other dragons will be sent out until T'lyn reports back, or until after Panitath Rises," she stated, agreeing with P'lan. She couldn't hide the smile that broke free as she finally looked at P'lan as a potential Weyrleader and not just an Onyxrider with good advice. Mine can find faults in most around her, though Mnelth's has done nothing to offend her . . . She went snooping and found something she disliked, Panitath informed her Onyx suitor, giving no other details, as Lilia would have asked her. Looking down at P'lan's hand on her knee, a slight blush crept along Lilia's cheeks, even though she tried to hide it with her hair. "As you should be proud for advising your Weyrwoman so," she stated. "Not very many are allowed to sit in my private weyr and speak words that could change my mind so easily," she stated, patting his hand, though she kept it there just a few seconds longer than she should have, before removing it.[/blockquote]

P'lan tried not to look too pleased about hearing that his rival was still in the mountains and no one had heard from him. Perhaps T'lyn had met with a tragic end. Would they know if he had? He could finally be rid of that stupid man who had always stood in his way. Instead of commenting he simply tipped his head at Lilia and her orders.
"I'll see to it that everyone in the Weyr hears these new orders," he offered.
Mnelth's is foolish to insult one as strong as yours. Svarth said with a snort. The only worse crime is to insult you, great Queen.
"It is an honor to sit with you and serve you, my Weyrwoman," P'lan said. "If you need anything, all you have to do is ask."
